Some of our recent graduates:

Natalya Delgado Chegwin

Upon graduating Augusta State University twice, once with a BA in English (December 2004) and the second time with a degree in Spanish (May 2005), I ventured to Thailand. There I spent one year working as a Professor of English Language at the Lampang College of Commerce and Technology. After Thailand, I returned home for a much-needed vacation.

This coming fall (2006), I will go to the University of Essex, in England, where I will pursue an MA in English Literature, focusing on translation and comparative literature. Once I complete my MA, I plan to work for a couple of years--Japan, Egypt, the UK and US are possible future places of residence. After that, the Universidad Nacional de Chile, in Santiago de Chile, will be the place where I pursue my terminal degree: a PhD in Latin American XX century literature.

Amanda Wescom

While at Augusta State University, I loved being an English Major. Thanks to the help of Dr. Tim Sadenwasser and various other great ASU professors, I wrote my Honors Program Thesis on Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd.  Because of this project and intensive training in both writing about and analyzing literature, I graduated from ASU in Spring 2005 and am now pursuing my Master of Arts degree in English Literature at the University of Georgia.

In fall 2006, I will begin a teaching assistantship, having two freshman English classes of my own in addition to regular course work. ASU has more than prepared me for my career as a university professor, and I could not be happier to have spent my first four years learning under such inspiring and, most importantly, caring professors. Interested in a variety of fields, including Nineteenth-Century British Literature and Contemporary Southern Literature, I am beginning work on my master’s thesis, which will be completed in May 2007. I plan to continue studying, terminating my academic preparation with a Ph.D. in English Literature.
