Major Tracks
Students may choose to major in English in one of four concentrations:
English Literature, English Literature/Secondary Education, Creative Writing, and Professional Writing. Click on the track sheet links below for the course of study for each concentration. Although all English majors have many courses in common,
each track requires some courses of its own. Click here to read Student Learning Outcomes for all English majors.
Minors
English: An English minor would complement any major at ASU. After passing English 2250 with a C or better, a student may choose any four English courses from the 3000 and 4000 series.
Humanities: A Humanities Minor is interdisciplinary and student-designed, offering classes in Humanities, Art, Music, Communications, Anthropology, Philosophy, Political Science, History, and Psychology. Click on the Humanities Program link to find out more.
Women’s Studies: A Women’s Studies Minor may be chosen by the student from courses in Women’s Studies, History, Anthropology, English, Communications, Sociology, and Psychology. Click on the Women’s Studies link to find out more.
Foreign Languages: The department offers minors in French, German, and Spanish. Each language may complement any major within the university, including the English major. Click on the Foreign Languages link to find out more.
Choosing a track and a minor will depend upon your career goals.
