Meetings & Events
"Meet the Majors” events will be held in the EFL hall on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, from 2:30-3:30. Meet your mentor and receive information about new courses, internships, scholarships, English Club events, career fairs, and publication opportunities. Refreshments in the break room.
The English Club meets every Friday at one in the JSAC. Come to stay current on EC events and activities; stay for the poetry and fiction workshop! For more information, contact Prof. Michelle Cook.
Join the English Club for the Friday Afternoon Poetry and Fiction Workshop every Friday afternoon in the JSAC from 1 p.m. Writers of all levels and genres are welcome! Workshop is open to all ASU students, staff, and faculty, writers and listeners alike! For more information, contact Prof. Simon Grant.
Regents' Test Information
Regents' Prep Sessions are scheduled for:
Mon., March 3, 2008 from 10:00-noon in UH329
Wed., March 5, 2008 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in UH170
Mon., March 10, 2008 from 10:00-noon in UH329
Thurs., March 13, 2008 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in UH170
Reservations are not required.
The deadline to register with the Department of English and Foreign Languages as ESL for Regents' testing is 4:00 p.m. on Fri., March 7, 2008.
Regents' Test Dates: October 29-31, 2007 and March 17-19, 2008. Contact Testing and Disabilities Services for more information
If you qualify for any type of extra time, you may call the Testing Center after 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10th to schedule either your Ex-Time Reading or Ex-Time Writing portion of the Regents' Exam or both.
If you are taking the test as an ESL student, you must confirm your ESL status with the Testing Center when scheduling your test time.
The Testing Center number is 706-737-1469.
You should be prompt in calling the Testing Center on Monday, March 10th to schedule your test or tests.
If you are ESL and wish to take the ESL Alternative Essay Exam offered through the Dept. of EFL, you must contact Kathy Newton in the department office (AH E227 or 706-667-4112) to be added to the list. You will be contacted and given the date and time of the test once you are approved.
You must contact Ms. Newton by Friday, March 7 th at 4:00 p.m.
ESL Alternative Essay Regent's Exam given by the Dept. of EFL is scheduled for Wed., March 19, 2008 from noon-1:30 p.m. in AHN234.
A picture ID is required. Please arrive about five minutes before the exam time.

Any ESL students who attempt the Writing portion of the Regents' Exam and are not successful should opt to audit ENGL 1101Z as remediation. They will then be eligible to take the Alternative Essay.
Exit Exams
Exit Exam for December English graduates: November 5-16, 2007. Letters will be sent by Testing and Disabilities Services to eligible candidates by October 26, 2007. If you do not receive a letter, please contact Kathy Newton in the EFL office.
Exit Exam for May English graduates: April 14-25, 2008. Letters will be sent by Testing and Disabilities Services to eligible candidates by March 28, 2008. If you do not receive a letter, please contact Kathy Newton in the EFL office.
