Choice Voice

Choice Voice showcases both the best essays from English 1101 and the winners and runners-up from the Goldburg Award contest for best English 1102 essay. The Choice Voice editorial board consists entirely of ASU students who have demonstrated strong writing skills. The board meets on Friday afternoons under the faculty guidance of Dr. Tim Sadenwasser and Ms. Valerie Cato to judge and edit submitted English 1101 essays, to lay out and design the annual publication, and to share delicious, sometimes homemade snacks and desserts.

Choice Voice offers ASU students the unique opportunity to have their fine work recognized across campus. Besides getting to see their work in print, winners are invited to read their essays at public readings, and English 1101 and 1102 instructors frequently use winning essays as teaching tools in their classrooms.

Sand Hills Literary Magazine

Since 1973, Sand Hills Literary Magazine has provided ASU students with an opportunity to publish works of literary and visual art. A student editorial board consisting of ASU Creative Writing Track Majors selects the best poetry and fiction submissions and marshals the magazine through subsequent phases of editing, lay out, proofreading, and production. A faculty subcommittee selects the annual winners of the Sand Hills Prizes for Best Poetry and Best Fiction, each consisting of a $200 monetary award.

Please view the magazine's website for the current issue and submission guidelines for future issues.
