N^ancy S^miler L^evinson (Children's Literature and Non-Fiction Evaluator) is an award-winning author of many titles for young readers, including Christopher Columbus: Voyager to the Unknown, I Lift My Lamp: Emma Lazarus and the Statue of Liberty, and historical fiction chapter books, Snowshoe Thompson and Clara and the Bandwagon. Her latest are Death Valley: A Day in the Desert and a biography of Ferdinand Magellan. She also writes stories for the Los Angeles Times' children's page.
